Harvesting Manager

Highlands

Euroforest are looking for an experienced Harvesting Manager to join our team in the Highlands.

The Harvesting Manager role requires a self-motivated, professional individual who has an ability to build relationships at all levels to manage harvesting sites in an operational area. A commercial outlook and an ability to work as part of a team is required, together with experience in timber harvesting. Excellent organisational, communication and IT skills are desirable, but above all we are seeking applicants with enthusiasm and the drive to succeed. A trainee manager’s position may also be available for someone with relevant experience and the right outlook.

At Euroforest, our team spends eighty percent of their time out of the office, working with landowners to harvest their forests. No two days are the same, from felling areas ready to harvest, to building protection zones around wildlife habitats, or building roads to access new forests, anything could come your way.

Duties:

• Be mindful of, and adhere to, Health, Safety & Environmental standards

Desirable Skills:

• Degree, HND or equivalent land-based qualification
• Professional membership of The Institute of Chartered Foresters or other relevant body
• A demonstrable interest in forestry and the harvesting sector

IT manager

Overview

We are looking for an IT Manager to migrate our IT services from an outsourced service to in house. The IT Manager will then provide both in-house and remote support to our user base in our Head Office in Carlisle and in offices across the UK. Euroforest Ltd is the largest independent timber harvesting & marketing company in the UK. We harvest and market in excess of 2.7 million m³ of timber per annum.

The Position

The IT Manager will be responsible for transitioning all IT services in house, setting up internal systems and delivering support to a wide range of hardware and software solutions, including (but not limited to) desktop workstations, laptops, printers, fixed line and mobile telephony (iOS & Android devices), licence procurement and management, as well as configuring new pcs and laptops.

A good working knowledge of Windows 10 as well as MS Office 365 are needed to be successful in this role. Experience in MS server based technologies including Active Directory and support in a corporate LAN\WAN environment would be advantageous.

You will need to demonstrate knowledge and experience in IT hardware and software support in a similar role, and be both dynamic and responsive in your approach to work. You must be capable of managing and effectively prioritising your own workload.

Bespoke harvesting systems for forestry will also need to be managed.

Key Responsibilities

Migrate IT support and systems from outsourced support to in house

• Work with existing suppliers and support network to transition IT support in house

Provide support to IT users

• Prioritise and manage multiple support requests
• Diagnose and resolve support calls according to their priority
• Establish and maintain good working relationships with users

Support, Configure and Maintain infrastructure & hardware

• Configure and supply desktop and mobile hardware with required software
• Ensure efficient reallocation of IT equipment and resources including licences
• Support and maintain server infrastructure and applications, hosted services, networking, telephony and printing
• Travel to remote offices to provide IT Support including installation and configuration of IT infrastructure & hardware

Support the delivery of new starter/leaver/change of position requests

• Ensure all requests are dealt with according to agreed procedures to ensure that system access granted is appropriate
• Ensure all requests are dealt with in agreed timescales
• Maintain department documentation, asset lists & checklists
• Co-ordinate with HR and line managers to ensure processes are followed

Skills

• Experience in supporting users with IT services and devices
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role
• IT Related qualifications at degree level or equivalent technical qualifications
• Strong knowledge of IT environments with a technical, methodical, and intelligent approach to troubleshooting and problem solving.
• Experience of administering Microsoft 365 and Exchange Online
• Understanding of network architecture
• Experience of managing & trouble shooting Windows servers and desktop clients
• Experience of managing servers
