Euroforest building the road to success

Storm Windblow Harvesting Works Completed at National Trust Site, Wallington

Euroforest have been working with the National Trust at Wallington in Northumberland clearing windblown timber from Storm Arwen and the subsequent winter storms.  The impact of these well documented storms has had a substantial effect on the estate, and it is estimated that in some areas up to 80% of the standing trees were damaged.

Euroforest have been carrying out a variety of harvesting works from clearfelling a compartment of damaged Sitka Spruce ahead of its planned harvesting date; the clearing of single and groups of windblow trees along a well-used cycle path; and the use of a skidder to remove veteran trees too big for standard harvesting machines and the inhouse estate team.  This specialised piece of equipment was utilised within a mature woodland setting close to the hall, to remove several damaged trees including a mature Oak that had fallen into the garden pond!

Euroforest and Blacklock harvesting worked with the National Trust staff to clear the windblow safely and ahead of schedule before the start of the busy Easter holidays.
