Using its own fleet of specialist vehicles and working in close partnership with a number of trusted contractors, Euroforest provides customers with an extensive forestry logistics solution. Euroforest controls an extensive fleet of timber wagons, offering clients a comprehensive package of bespoke haulage that combines cost-effectiveness with maximum flexibility. This capability enables the Company to rapidly meet the needs of an ever-changing market, maximising our service and value to the forest owner.
Euroforest operates vehicle configurations to suit all situations. The Company’s operation includes a substantial number of timber crane trailers, rigid crane unit/trailer combination units and bolster trailers. Self loading crane wagons tend to predominate in north England, Wales and Scotland while in the south Euroforest taps into the availability of general haulage vehicles which are more readily available in the region.
The modern fleet has been specified with the latest technology, matching efficiency with minimal environmental impact. Euro 5 and 6 vehicles are augmented by a national fleet distribution that minimises hugely wasteful empty running, delivering significant transport savings that are passed directly on to the customer. Our own drivers undergo a programme of regular driver training, including the use of Safe and Fuel Efficient techniques and specialist trailer-mounted crane operation.
Working in accordance with the ‘Timber Transport Agreed Route Maps’, the Company’s vehicles are also fully equipped to operate on sensitive ‘consultation’ routes, allowing Euroforest to open up marketing opportunities for woodland owners in even the most remote areas with limited access.
CTI TYRE TECHNOLOGY
The large fleet of six wheeler/drag articulated units used in forestry transport operate lightweight trailers and modern Central Tyre Inflation systems. CTI technology enables tyre pressures to be reduced automatically, increasing
traction, allowing timber lorries to extend the safe use of many forest tracks built for seasonal or intermittent use during the harvesting phase. This system also helps to maintain the integrity of minor country roads during short periods of high
volume traffic, cutting road wear costs to forestry customers.
Where long in-forest hauls are required we can deploy specialist low ground pressure vehicles which use both CTI and wide wheels to minimize damage to forest roads.
