We are looking for experienced ecological professional, interested in making meaningful environmental and social difference to be based out of our Nairn or Stirling offices. The successful candidates will report directly into the Head of Ecology and take a key role in leading ecological projects and providing advice to internal and external stakeholders on all ecological matters.
The role can be divided into the following key responsibilities, but it is not limited to:
- Representing and promoting the Company’s environmental standards.
- Delivering ecological services in line with customer needs and Company objectives.
- Undertaking and managing ecological surveys for habitats and protected species, analysing and interpreting the subsequent results.
- Preparing and reviewing of technical reports and ecological assessments.
- Managing applications for ecological & protected species licences.
- Undertaking ECoW duties on development and land management projects.
- Managing project budgets, timelines and resources effectively.
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders and providing guidance, ensuring projects adhere to best practices and comply with relevant policies and legal regulations.
- Advising on environmental legislation, keeping key stakeholders informed of any changes, updating Company policies and procedures as required.
- Supporting existing forestry management and harvesting business streams on ecological related matters.
- Undertaking, supervising and training colleagues on ecological legislation and guidance.
Training and support will be provided to introduce the successful applicant to company systems and procedures.
- Relevant academic qualifications in ecology, environment, land use or other related discipline.
- Membership of, or working towards, the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM), or equivalent professional body with professional code of conduct.
- Proven experience of delivering and coordinating ecological surveys (habitats, protected species, birds, reptile).
- Understanding and experience in the application of UK Environmental Legislation and policy
- Protected species licence holder.
- Experience in report writing(including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, management plans and Ecological Impact Assessments) and development of mitigation measures.
- Experience of forestry management, vegetation removal environment is desirable.
- Experience in working in multi-disciplined teams, providing technical and non-technical advice.
- Proven record of Ecological Clerk of Works experience.
- CSCS Card.
