To support growing collaboration across our forestry and infrastructure projects, we are seeking to strengthen our workforce. Euroforest is looking for a skilled and motivated Forest Technician to join our harvesting and forest management operations. Based in our Stirling office, the Forest Technician will primarily work across Perth and Tayside overseeing supervision and coordination of harvesting, roading, silvicultural operations, and site surveying. This role is key to ensuring all activities are carried out to the highest professional, environmental, and health and safety standards.
The role involves the following key responsibilities, but it is not limited to:
- Assisting with all aspects of onsite management of timber harvesting, silvicultural operations and forest roading.
- Undertaking regular site inspections and quality control checks, measuring and recording key outputs and supplying this to the harvesting & forest managers.
- Maintaining and updating operational maps, progress maps, stock records, and completing site documentation for safety and quality.
- Supporting the forest management team on restocking and new woodland creation sites. Checking mound density and quality is correct, monitoring tree quality and ensuring trees are handled and planted correctly by contractors.
- Supporting the harvesting teams to ensure timber specifications and the quality of timber cut is correct, ensure brash matts, water management and the forest road is correctly considered by the harvesting and haulage operators.
- Identifying and escalating operational issues, hazards, or non-compliance for safety & quality promptly to the Area Manager.
- Liaising with harvesting, establishment and roading contractors and their operators to maintain agreed standards.
- Assisting in haulage planning for deliveries to site and collection of timber from sites.
- Ensuring correct safety signage is displayed on operational sites and that operators have the correct RAMS for all activities.
Training and support will be provided to introduce the successful applicant to Company systems and procedures.
- Proven practical forestry experience
- Relevant academic qualification in Forestry or other land- or science-based discipline
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships and collaborate across teams
- Motivated to deliver a high-quality service to clients
- Experience coordinating contractor activity and working as part of both local and wider teams
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Skilled in data recording and reporting
- Proactive, forward-thinking, and able to take ownership of tasks
- Sound decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in IT systems, including of Office 365 and GIS
- Clean, full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
