Client: Leicestershire County Council
Project Name: Coalville Tree Planting
Duration: 5 days (plus one year of ongoing maintenance)
The aim was to enhance the environmental and aesthetic value of a small urban area in Coalville through carefully planned tree planting.
Scope of Works
The project involved the design and implementation of a structured tree planting scheme tailored to suit an urban environment. A total of 105 trees were planted over a 5 day period, with an additional one year maintenance contract to ensure establishment and long-term health of the trees.
Key components included:
· Designing a species-diverse planting scheme to suit the location and maximise visual and ecological impact.
· Planting trees in grouped clusters of 16, with an avenue of flowering cherry trees (Prunus avium 'Plena') enhancing a key pedestrian route.
· Collaborative working with the Council and all stakeholders
· Work planning with local residents to ensure minimal disturbance
· Safe working practices within a busy public open space
Outcome
The Coalville Tree Planting project successfully delivered a visually striking and environmentally beneficial transformation of the space. With a robust selection of species and a professional maintenance plan in place, the project supports biodiversity, improves air quality, and enhances the local urban landscape.
