Careful Planning on Clearfell Site Achieves Landowners Objectives

Ben Sinden, Contract Supervisor and Stewart Marshall, Area Manager for Dumfries and Galloway recently completed a clearfell on a private estate where the larch element was subject to a statutory plant health notice.  The site in Dumfries required careful planning to ensure the site, which is used for pheasant shooting, remained visually appealing and accessible.

The timber was harvested by a team from Blacklock Harvesting and due to the nature of the site required dug extraction tracks into steep gulley’s, an element of winching, and additional chainsaw resource.  This enabled the Blacklock team to harvest the timber whilst allowing Ben and Stewart to maximise returns and achieve the owner’s objective of maintaining the site for sporting.
