Euroforest building the road to success

First Timber Export from Oban a Great Success

Euroforest recently carrier out its first export from Oban where 1,000 tonnes of timber left from the North Pier.  Sean Kerr, Area Manager for West Argyll & the Isles managed the operation, working closely with local authority, Argyll and Bute Council, shipping company, Great Glen Shipping, and local haulier, Coille Haulage.

The timber was transported from a local harvesting site to the pier in Oban where it was loaded directly from the lorries into the hull of the ship.  A Liebherr crane, which was mounted on the vessel and travelled along the length of the ship on runners, was used for loading.  The Euroforest team were on site at all times and through careful management by Sean and Euroforest staff, ensured the operation ran smoothly with no issues.
